Cookie Cutter Ideas
There are so many ways to use your cookie cutters in addition to making cookies ...
Don't limit your imagination to using your cookie cutters use to only bake cookies. Here are some examples to get you thinking outside the "cookie" -
- Fresh fruit can be cut into large slices and stamped out using your cookie cutters, i.e. slice watermelon longways and then stamp out pigs (or butterflies, etc...) and voila - you will have pink pig shaped fruit slices !
- Sandwiches, i.e. make cheese sandwiches and stamp out with the mouse shape. Try any of the many cookie cutter shapes to stamp out a sandwich to get children to eat. Another idea - try stamping out a butterfly from bread and placing a cheerio (small sausage) lengthways for the body, then place another butterfly bread shape on top. Squash together. Use the squeezable tomato sauce bottle to "decorate" tomato sauce wiggles on the wings
- Fairy bread - break the tradition of triangles for fairy bread by stamping out cookie shapes to match your party theme
- Puff pastry - stamp out different shaped cookie cutters and bake like normal puff pastry. "Ice" with jam and a dollop of cream
- Pizzas - make spooky spider webs by using the spider web cookie cutter to stamp out shapes from pizza bases, grate with cheese and bake in the oven. Remove and "ice" the web strings on with a squeezable tomato sauce bottle
- Crackers or crostini - Stamp shapes out of brown or white bread and bake or grill on both sides - use these as an alternative to crackers with dips and raw vegetables on an antipasto platter
